the article describes how to make college more affordable. they are trying to make community colleges free. the solution that can make college accessible and affordable for the middle and lower-income students. they say that colleges should offer an alternative to traditional loan programs which allows students to defer up to 75 percent of the cost of attending school. if college borrows money the cost would be substantially lower than what individuals to pay for current loan programs. they spoke to 300 college presidents, admissions deans, and financial aid directors at the College Board’s annual Higher Ed Colloquium. the talk was about survey research of families by the education site which was called noodle. Two-thirds said that they would recommend only those colleges that offered a substantial financial aid package to their children, and 52 percent of them said they would suggest that their children attend a year or two of community college as a way to make college more affordable (and that was before the president’s proposal to make community college free).

this article describes how college graduates don’t feel that college hasn’t prepared them for the real world. and half of the college students thought that they put too much emphasis on book learning. and to better help their students be successful and to also better advise their students as well. most colleges thought it would be good for newcomers would take a seminar that would be geared toward professional development, with offerings that include leadership, dining etiquette, team building, internship preparation, resume writing, and mock interviews. Students are also given the opportunity to volunteer, tutor, intern or apply to a fellowship program for credit. they try to get students comfortable with their major as well as themselves in attending college.
